The Historical and Art Museum of Uglich is located in the stone chambers of the Uglich Kremlin. It was opened in 1892. As a Museum of Antiquities – one of the first in Russia. Currently, the museum is divided into three thematic sections. The historical department contains historical rarities found in Uglich in research works. These are mainly monuments of culture, art, printing related to the XVI – XVII centuries. A large collection of portraits of the Great Uglichs, the picturesque works of local masters were exhibited in the artistic department. The collection of the art department is constantly replenished with subjects of applied creativity related to the pre -Christian and early Christian period.
