The Cuban government concluded that almost half a century of isolation of the Island of Freedom by the United States of America seriously affects the functioning of the Internet in Cuba. According to the director of the Informatization Management Strategy Francisco Hartmamm, many servers and sites are blocked for Cuban users, and the communication speed leaves much. Cubans who have Internet access cannot use the services that are presented on numerous sites if the email address ends with the “cu” domain, which means cube. According to information that regularly appears in various periodicals and reveals the consequences of the blockade carried out by the United States of America with respect to Cuba, the speed of the Internet in Cuba is extremely low. More or less normal speed can only be achieved using expensive satellite communication. The Internet problem can be solved simply. It is only necessary to connect to the optical cable, which runs under water only 50 kilometers from the Cuban border. The American government did not take this step and forbade Cuba to carry out any actions regarding the optical cable. A ban on the use of the website of the American company Microsoft was also introduced. Even in May, the management of Microsoft warned that Cuban users could not use the Windows Live service. After connecting to the Internet, the user receives a notification that Microsoft closed access to Windows Live Messenger IM to residents of those countries that are in the American blockade. Unfortunately, Cubans are not the only service closed for residents of the island of Freedom. This is the cause of the very low speed of the Internet. In addition, there is no technical opportunity to provide users with high -speed Internet. Recall that 18 years ago, about sixty states turned to the White House calling to cancel sanctions against Cuba. Last year, the number of supporters of the island of Freedom reached 185 states. So far, the American government does not react to such calls.
